Day 1 : Collect you from your hotel or airport and proceed to Polonnaruwa.

Polonnaruwa was the medieval capital of Sri Lanka, the city was protected by 06 km of strong encircling walls. Strategically it commanded all the crossings over the Mahaweli River guarding the increasingly powerful southern province of Ruhunu. In 993 the Cholas looted and burnt Anuradhapura and used Polonnaruwa as there military base for 77 years, resulting in an interesting blend of south Indian Hindu culture and Sinhalese Buddhist art and architecture. The valiant King Vijayabahu defeated the Cholas in 1073 and devoted his long reign to the development of irrigation and Buddhism. Civil war followed his death and in 1161 Parakramabuhu, the hero of the Culavamsa, captured Polonnaruwa and assumed control of the whole island. Parakramabahu is regarded as being the last great King of Sri Lanka.

Day 02 : After breakfast proceed to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress which tells a tale of power, intrigue and tragedy, its founder King Kassyapa murdered his father, seized the throne from his brother, the rightful heir, then fled to the182 meter high rock and built his palace there, safe from his enemies as the climb takes around two hours. Later in Habarana you will have the chance to ride an elephant through the jungle on a one or two hour ride. Onwards to Dambulla, the ancient rock temples dating back to the 1 st century BC. Dambulla rock is 152 meters high with a colossal recumbent figure of Lord Buddha that’s 14 meters in length. The paintings on the ceilings of the caves depict great events in the life of Lord Buddha.

Herbal and spice lovers may visit to the herbal gardens, then on to our Hotel. Later in the evening enjoy a culture show and over night at the Thilanka hotel Kandy.

Day03 : After breakfast a short tour of Kandy, the last capital of the classical independent Sinhalese Kingdom that still retains some aura of grandeur which time has not affected. Visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic which has grown in repute ever since the lord Buddha’s tooth was brought to Sri Lanka far back as 04 th century ad. Enjoy the botanical gardens, Kandy lake, St Paul’s church and the national museum, then a short shopping trip in the city. Later proceed to Nuwara Eliya, Enjoy your drive through this beautiful hill country amidst vast acres of tea plantations and breathtaking water falls. Stay over night at the Sun Hill Hotel Nuwara Eliya.

Day 04 : After an early breakfast we proceed to Horton Plains. For a walk through the park - it is most certainly one of the world’s best nature reserves and the home of bakers falls, chimmin pool etc. The largest wet grassland in the country, with an extent of 10,000 hectares, it is inhabited by elk, squirrel, wild boar, wild hair, porcupines, and a variety of migratory birds, and last but not least 16 leopards. At end of our hike across on Horton plains we come to the famous Worlds End, a sheer drop of 3700ft. Worlds End offers a fantastic awesome view down below, and with the sight of sprawling tea estates and beyond, a breathtaking panoramic view of the southern part of the island down to the coast. Later relax and enjoy your drive through this hill country tea plantations and water falls that never fail to please to the eye. Stay over night at the Centuriya Hotel Udawalawa..

Day 05 : An early start on to Udawalawa National Park for a mini Safari of around 4 hours, see elephants, peacocks, deer and a large variety of birds. Then a the drive back to your hotel via Talalla, Unawatuna Hikkaduwa and Bentota for your drop you at your hotel or airport with fond memories of this tour around Sri Lanka
